Document Management System
We have recently committed to the installation of a new document management system. This will ultimately put all our legal files on-line, and has the capacity to completely eliminate paper files. Client service is bound to be improved as a result as all matter documents will be instantly accessible by any of our lawyers.
Practice Services
We have put more thought into services for our lawyers, evolving our support team to focus on IT, finance and marketing, as well as provision of direct lawyer support. We are improving the range of information available to lawyers as well as ensuring they have the tools to monitor their performance.
Business continuity plan
We have developed a new business continuity plan. The idea is to ensure minimum levels of disruption to our service in the event of an incident. The plan includes the use of our alternate office in the event that one is out of action. We are investing in continuity to phone and e-mail systems, so that communication between our lawyers and their clients can be quickly restored, and in most cases should be uninterrupted.
Improvements for our staff
This year we introduced better benefits for our people. These included enhanced maternity pay, medical insurance, and travel ticket loans. We have a very good rate of staff retention and want to keep it that way, our people being our most valuable asset.
Lexcel progress
Having decided that the firm wants to obtain the Lexcel standard, we have made good progress and estimate that we are about 70% there. The firm will carry out an internal evaluation of our progress at the end of the year, so that focus can be placed on the remaining parts of the standard before we apply for assessment.
