Fee Earner Q&A with Freya Wright
Freya Wright
Freya Wright joined Bermans in February 2024 and is a solicitor in our Property team. We spoke to her to learn more about her and her work.
- Can you give us a brief summary of your career so far?
I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2021 with a First-Class Law degree. What I thought would be a short work experience placement at a local firm quickly turned into an opportunity to join its Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship programme.
Over the next few years, I balanced working in practice four days a week and studying for the SQE one day a week, at a time when this qualification route was still relatively new. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience (given that I am now a qualified solicitor!)
1. What area of the law do you specialise in and why?
I specialise in all aspects of residential property, including (but not limited to) sales, purchases, remortgages, new-build developments and bridging finance.
I enjoy the relationships I build with clients throughout a transaction given that a residential property is likely the largest investment people will make in their lifetime, there is an additional emotional element attached to some transactions, meaning that inter-personal relationships become especially important.
2. Is there a case or a particular piece of work you were proud to be involved with, if so why?
I was recently instructed in a bridging refinance deal for a lender that does not use Bermans for their legals. I was able to complete the deal in 8 working days (recognition also goes out to the client who as brilliant at actioning what was needed!) and received amazing feedback from both the lender and the broker, which has now started to open doors to further work with the broker and lender involved. I am proud of my hard work and feel a sense of self-achievement in the strengthening of my reputation as a property solicitor.
3. Away from the law what are your interests and passions?
Away from work I enjoy leaving the country, if there is a flight going I want to get on it! There is nothing like a good holiday. However, given I am sadly not a multi-millionaire and holidays every month are not feasible, I often have to substitute my cravings for holidays with meals out (I’m not complaining too much though as I am a massive foodie, ironic for a fussy eater!).
I recently got engaged so at the moment, both holidays and meals out are having to be substituted and wedding planning is in full force. Luckily, its still early days so I haven’t lost my sanity with it just yet!

Growing up I was a bit of a netball fanatic, it consumed nearly all my weekend and a couple of nights mid-week. I still enjoy the odd game from time to time, but currently I enjoy going to the gym and partaking in hryox classes (although I cannot picture myself actually entering a real competition!).
I have been raised a Manchester United fan, although I must admit, my passion for football only comes out when the World Cup or the Euros are on.
Films (Top 3):
- Harry Potter – I couldn’t even tell you how many times I have rewatched these films. Incredible. Perhaps a cheat answer given there are 7 but I cannot narrow them down. I am hoping the HBO series can live up to these.
- Good Will Hunting – a classic, cup-filling, hopecore film.
- Die Hard – still not decided if this is a Christmas film or not, but I would watch it all year round.
Music (3 tracks/albums to take on Desert Island):
I am an ultimate pop-princess. Anything Sabrina Carpenter will raise my spirits, but if I had to pick just one of her albums, it would have to be ‘short and sweet’.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, I am a Justin Bieber fan, his 2012 album ‘Believe’ has still not been topped for me yet.
I also love James Blunt (preparing for the stick I’m going to get for this…), ‘Back to Bedlam’

- Game of Thrones – cinematic masterpiece
- Friends – ultimate comfort watch
- Any Harlen Cobern remake on Netflix – these will always have me up way to late squeezing in another episode and regretting it in the morning.
Podcasts you listen to/recommend: Controversially I am not a podcast listener! I do catch some snippets online, ‘Great Company with Jamie Lang’ or ‘The Diary of a CEO by Stephen Bartlett’ do catch my attention. Maybe it’s worth having a proper listen!
Meal: Spaghetti Bolognaise (fussy eater!) or a roast dinner, because you cannot beat a comfort meal.
Holiday destination: If I was restricted to Europe, definitely any Greek island, although a personal favourite is Santorini. Outside of Europe, Bali, no words to describe it!!!
Favourite book: I am a classic girl, I love a Chick-Flick book, anything Colleen Hoover is up my street! Although my next read is ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy, so I may be converted.
3 people for a dinner party and why?
- My sister – I’m afraid no ones company tops hers.
- Jacob Elordi – I don’t think I need to explain this one…
- Sabrina Carpenter – I honestly think we would be best friends.
