Maggie joined Bermans in 2005 as an Office Junior and is now a Litigation Assistant in our Creditor Services team.

Maggie started her career at Bermans as an Office Junior before becoming a Legal Secretary, a role in which she which she stayed in for many years. Maggie predominantly deals with prelegal correspondence and process driven claims and enforcement.

New Vacancy – Insolvency Paralegal (Manchester)

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Insolvency Paralegal to join our Insolvency team.

The existing team is friendly, hard-working, welcoming and we are seeking a like-minded individual.

Start date: as soon as possible

Location: Manchester city-centre office, with 5 days working in the office initially and the potential to work from home 1 day per week, following successful completion of probation period.

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time

Skills and experience required:

  • You will already have some experience of working in an insolvency team, but this is not essential.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to prioritise and manage a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative where appropriate.
  • Strong client and legal skills and an eye for detail.
  • An interest in starting to build your own network and to contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Excellent organisation, time-management and communication skills.
  • A personable and hard-working nature and the ability to work well with others.
  • 3 A Levels in C grade or above (or equivalent).

Salary: Salary will be dependent upon experience

Freya joined Bermans in March 2024 and is a Solicitor in our Property team in Manchester.

Currently, Freya primarily works in residential property and deals with:

She obtained a first class law degree before going on to achieving a diploma in the Legal Practice Course. She also attained her SQE Qualification in February 2024.

Sean Quinn

Solicitor

Sean joined Bermans in September 2023 as a Trainee and having qualified in March 2025 is now a Solicitor working in our ABL team.

He works with a broad range of lenders assisting them with general corporate finance, invoice finance and asset-based lending matters.

He has a First-Class Honours Law Degree, as well as a distinction in The Legal Practice course. He also received the Liverpool Law Society Rupert Bremner Prize in recognition of his LPC grades.

Sean is a former national swimmer; however, he now just swims recreationally. He also enjoys playing football, as well as watching his team, Everton.

Alex Fryer

Paralegal

Alex joined Bermans in March 2024 and is a paralegal in our ABL team in Manchester.

He assists in asset finance and invoice finance work for a broad range of lenders and has prior experience in both pro-bono work and the inquest sector of the Law.

Alex studied Law at Liverpool John Moores University where he obtained a 2:1 Classification in 2023. He also intends to begin his SQE studies by the close of 2024.

In his spare time, Alex enjoys a variety of activities. As well as being an avid golfer, Alex is also passionate about both playing and watching football. Alex also enjoys travelling, whether it be a beach holiday or exploring new cities abroad.
