Happy Retirement Dave Gledhill!
Dave Gledhill joined Bermans as an articled clerk (trainee) in 1984 and has remained with the firm, after qualifying in 1986, for the entirety of his career.
He initially worked from the Liverpool office but quickly moved to become a key figure in the Manchester office that opened in 1985.
Dave has worked in invoice finance nearly all of his professional career providing sound commercial advice to all Bermans clients in the invoice finance and asset based lending field and is well respected for his commercial and down to earth approach when advising clients.
The team has consistently been ranked #1 lawyers by the Business Money magazine in their annual review of the UK invoice finance sector.
Dave is recognised in the London (national) listings of Legal 500 as a “leading individual” alongside Alex Chapman.

1st January 2026 will see Dave take up a consultancy role with the firm as he looks to reduce his working days but he will keep a keen eye on the quality of work produced by the next generation of lawyers.
He will retain the same Bermans’ email address and phone number and, subject to not standing over a putt on the 18th green at the time, will be happy to chat advisory situations through on the phone as he has done for so many years – “How can I help you today then?” – and if a job arises, will forward to the team for action. Alex Chapman will remain as head of ABL and ensure the job goes to the right level of seniority, within the Team and that our usual service levels are maintained.

In addition, of course, we have Jonny Berkson’s Creditor Services Team who will seek to recover your funds if things go wrong and Phil Farrelly/Martin March/ James Whittaker heading up the Insolvency Team to assist with restructuring issues.
